Its a mismatch infavour of the smilodon for every subspecie apart from gracilis.

My sides god damn it. Making it a mismatch because the OP said it was a certain species doesn't make too much sense, we can use Smilodon gracilis, and even so it might be a tough fight given the relatively weak bites of both contenders. The machairodontine has a relatively weak bite force, and so does the thylacosmilid. Both at fair sizes will be not much larger than a Leopard or a Jaguar.

50/50 honestly (using S. gracilis). Any advantages they might have (and they do each have some advantages) seem rather insignificant (ex: proportionately longer canines, bite force, claw retractability, resistance to certain types of force).
