After gorging herself on the delicious meal Nevada had provided her, Strype quickly grew tired. She was exhausted from the work she had done, and now she could rest peacfully in the smooth comforting walls of her home. She wished Nevada a "good night" and was quick to return to her den, so that she sleep peacefully. ___________
Strype woke up, very, very early in the morning. "Unghghhhhhh..." She moaned. She wanted to go back to sleep. After 10 minutes of tossing and turning, she decided to get some fresh air. She walked outside, and took in the night time scenery. But then she realised there was a large silhouette in the moonlight, staring down into the jungle. She walked over to this silhouette. She sat down next to it. "Nevada, what's up?" She asked worryingly. He sat there, eyes fixed on the horizon. "You can talk to me, cmon what is troubling you?" Strype insisted. Nevada said nothing, but lowered his head slightly. Strype realised he obviously didn't want to talk, and started to stand up. "Wait!" Nevada asked. Strype immediately sat back down, and began to listen. "Sigh... It's my homeland. My territory" Nevada said. "I've lived there ever since I was a hatchling. I took over that territory from my parents, and I have protected it ever since. I am home sick, I think".
Strype realised how hard it must be for Nevada to be so far away from home for so long. She instantly felt extremely bad for him. He looked over to Strype. She knew what had to be said, for Nevada's sake. "You can always go if you want..."

When he suddenly said: "No. I'll stay here, with you."They decided to watch the moonlight, neither of them could sleep. Suddenly, they heard a long sound echoing through the jungle, it was creepy. It seemed like a roar that echoed through the jungle, and as it happened, many birds flied off the trees, scared of the sound. This was not good... Nevada quickly stood up again, as both of them had sat down to watch the moonlight, and used all of his senses to detect any possible movement down there in the jungle. Nothing. He told Strype to go back to her den, and that he would stay out there, without getting any sleep. He would protect her from anything if necessary. After that sound, the place was all silent... The fog was also starting to return, and this was not good.

Strype woke up, once again. She was no where near as energetic today, not after the event of last night. Last night. Strype remembered how Nevada had complete trust in her, and was trying to protect her to the best of his ability. It mean't a lot to Strype. She sat up, looking forward to meeting Nevada at the hot spring again. She walked out through the thick plants, and into the bright sunlight. Except it wasn't bright sunlight anymore. The grey sky had returned, and the fog with it. So much for scenery. Strype struggled over to the hot spring.
But when she got there, Nevada was no where to be found. 'That is very strange,' She thought. 'He is always here...' But Strype trusted that he would return, after what happened last time. Strype sat down in the hot spring once again, feeling nothing but joy as her muscles instantly turned to jelly. She sat there, alone with her thoughts for a while. She was thinking about a lot of things, but she couldn't get a slight worry out of the back of her head. 'Where is Nevada?' The worry asked. 'Where?' Strype started to get extremely worried after more than 30 minutes sitting alone in the hot spring. Nevada was either out hunting another Sauroposeidon, or something worse. A huge roar erupted from the bottom of her hill. A roar that scared the life out of Strype.
Why? It was the same roar that the two Acrocanthosaurs has heard last night. Strype was filled with dread. She instantly knew that Nevada was in trouble. She practically jumped out of the hot spring, and raced down the hill. After 5 minutes of sprinting, she made it down the hill finally. She looked around frantically, and noticed some signs of distress on the ground. She followed them, until she heard another roar followed by loud scuffling. She was close.
She raced after the tracks, and ended up right next to the fight scene. A large Acrocanthosaurus was taking on Nevada, and at the moment it looked like he was winning. Strype hid in some bushes, well camouflaged. She watched the fight. The larger Acro took Nevada by the lower neck, and threw him against a tree. Nevada roared in pain. Strype filled with rage. She lept out of the bushes, and attacked the larger Acro's flanks. The enemy screamed, loud enough for the whole world to hear. Nevada quickly rushed forward, and ripped open the neck of the Acro. He was dead in a matter of seconds.
Strype rushed over to Nevada, and carried him up the hill. He wasn't injured that bad, but he would need a day or so to heal up. Strype was so grateful that he had chosen to take on a dinosaur of that size rather than put her in danger. "You stupid dinosaur. You are so awesome" She told him.

She put him in her den, gave him a piece of the Sauroposeidon carcass, and went off to go hunting again. But before they could go, the 12 metre Acrocanthosaurus got up. He bit Strype's tail, and dragged her to the ground. Suddenly, Nevada froze... His eyes went red. He was frozen for like 5 seconds, when he charged at the enemy with an outstanding force. The dinosaur fell on the ground, and the impact caused his throat to spray litres of blood on the snow under their feet. The animal got knocked to the ground with such a massive impetus, the the dinosaur's ribcage simply shattered. The fighting scene suddenly became all silent, with only the sound of nothingness everywhere. The dinosaur, on the ground, was breathing heavily, and coughing blood every now and then. The impact was so powerful that they could hear a shattering bone sound. The dinosaur tried to get up, but he only felt an acute pain. Nevada was possessed by a demon at this point, and charged the dying enemy, tearing his neck apart. He grabbed him by the neck and started hitting his head on the solid ground countless times, like if there was no tomorrow. The skull got completely destroyed. The antorbital fenestra got a rock penetrated through it, the surangular popped out, the maxilla was totally messed up, the nasals were crushed, the postorbital was shattered, and the dentary got partially bitten off. The cervical vertebrae got completely broken. Nevada never had done this before. He then bit the lower neck, while his foot was crushing the opponent's teres. With the foot crushing a muscle while holding the dinosaur as well, Nevada's formidable jaws tore apart the foe's lower neck, exposing part of his trapezius, and the levator scapulae. He did another bite and tore off the spinalis capitis. The cmpetitor was already dead. Its neck has flesh and muscles spread on the ground, with blood still dripping out of it. Now that Nevada had killed the foe that tried to kill Strype, they went to her den, and spent a while there.

Malcom was enjoying a peaceful life with his herd. They had been browsing on the trees for a good 9 months and were almost free of predators. However lately, the herd notices that the trees have less leaves now and the remaining are already falling to the ground. They also feels a slight chill in the air and see the approaching fog coming from the west. Winter is coming, and the herd must move on to a better forest.
To the east, there is another large forest, containing more fresh leaves. The herd will travel there and stay there for another 6 - 9 months, until winter arrives once again. Malcom bellows into the air, alerting the other Sauroposeidons to gather in herd formation and that they must move on.
Another few days pass, and the herd was already engulfed by the incoming western fog. They couldn't see anything within a few meters from them!
Stay together boys! bellows Malcom, The fog will pass soon!
Soon, the storm passes, and the sauropods can finally see again. But then, Malcom realized that they are going the wrong direction! Horrified at the situation, he announces the herd of their predicement. Yet they have to keep moving, hoping that they would find their way to the forest.
But at the same time... hungry mouthes are watching...

Nevada was pretty beaten up. His upper torso had been rammed a couple of times, and a broken rid of two wasn't unlikely. His jaws and arms had been put under a lot of stress while fighting, so he was clearly aching. He had a small wound near his jaw on his upper neck, that was bleeding a lot. Despite all this, he still tried to get up and do stuff. He just wasn't giving in. "You took care of me for 2 days for a injured toe!" Strype exclaimed. "Look at you! At least let me help you" Nevada gave in, and started to rest on the den floor. The bushes were growing more rapidly every day, and soon there would be a carpet of plants in her den. Strype walked outside.
She looked over to the Sauroposeidon carcass. There was not a lot left of it anymore. Parts of the body remained, but the only complete sections were the neck, head and one of the hind legs. She grabbed the largest section of the back leg, and quickly tossed it inside her den for Nevada. Then she walked down the hill, to go hunt for some more food.
15 minutes later, she was stalking a large pack of raptors. They were completely oblivious to her, because they were busy killing a huge Tenontosaurus. The Tenontosaurus was flailing about, but it was no use; the raptors were all over her, she was outnumbered. The Tenontosaurus fell over, giving up. The largest raptor sunk his claw deep into his preys neck, severing the windpipe. The Tenontosaurus died very quickly. This was her chance, Strype jumped out from behind a couple of trees and charged the leader raptor. She picked him up with her jaws, and flung him through the air. He only went a couple metres, because he was fairly heavy for Strype to carry in her jaws, but it was enough to kill him. The other raptors retreated immediately. Strype picked up the raptor, and took it back up the mountain.
Following that, Strype went back down the hill and grabbed the Tenontosaurus. She had to do this 4 times to collect the whole animal, it was huge. Once all "her" kills were up on the mountain, she was exhausted. She could use a break. She slowly and lazily walked over to the hot spring, dragging her feet along the ground. She practically fell into the hot spring once she arrived, and immediately she felt like she was in heaven. All her muscles were relaxed once again, after all that effort. She sat in the hot spring for a long time.

I never replied to this. What a shame. But why not reply now that I feel like it? First post after almost two years without returning to this story though, so might be pretty off. ________________________________________________
Nevada certainly did not feel right, but in a way, he was glad he was triumphant this time. Winning that fight was more meaningful than winning your ordinary duel, it meant being loyal to a friend and being the best he could to protect them. His injuries did not hurt at first, but he knew they would be more of an issue as his adrenaline rush started to fade awat. Nonetheless, he could easily ignore the pain for he knows he went throught all of that for a good reason. He entered the hot spring, which seemed to magically get himself rid of whatever managed to put him in a bad mood. He was soon fully relaxed, his wounds submerged, the heat applied to them serving as a natural painkiller. It was cold outside. The extremities of his arms, fingers and other parts of his body felt cold, but his torso, head and legs felt very warm. The air he was breathing was pleasingly hot, given the steam coming from the spring; it was even more relieving seeing as he was getting rid of the cold air intake he got before entering the spring. He would rest there for a while, knowing his bleeding wounds would heal a lot faster that way.
He could stay there all day. The oxygen intake was truly ideal for his current needs, and the temperature was just right. He couldn't get himself anything better than that. But despite looking relaxed, his highly active mind always had him worried about things. Given his drive to feel useful, those injuries were much more mental than physical. He wants to constantly prove his worth to Strype, he wants to feel useful, not like an useless, injured animal who would only give her twice the work she needs to survive. He wants to go out, hunt, and do what his instincts tell him to. He needs to be the one bringing food to the den, that way he will feel like he has a reason to be around. His needs cannot be oppressed, and those injuries are a serious threat to his mind's well-being. He will need to occupy his mind with something, as not being able to do daily activities is just too much of a cruel fate for him, despite it being a temporary state. He falls asleep, with only his head outside of the water, so that he can breathe.

(Might reintroduce some old characters from this thread and use them in the new storyline)
Alberta and Matthew (Saurophaganax) rest patiently by the various dirt mounds in a blistering hot prairie, not too far from where the previous events have been taking place. They are watching a great sauropod succumb to its wounds from an attack from a pack of Allosaurus a few hundred yards away, and are waiting for it to become completely helpless before they go in to scavenge its corpse, as the giant beast is still upright and despite weak, perfectly capable of defending itself against any large theropod. They are aware that this prize will attract predators from miles around, but they are not too worried about this as most other predators would be intimidated by their size and likely let them take the first bite of the carcass.
