Tyrannosaurus rex ("Tyrant Lizard King") is a species within the genus Tyrannosaurus. It is a large, bipedal genus of carnivorous tyrannosaurid dinosaur that lived 68-66 MYA in the late Creataceous Period, in what is know known as Montana, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, Canada, Saskatchewan, and possibly New Mexico in North America, as well as Mongolia in Asia. It's order is Saurischia. It can run up to 18.1 MPH, as well as having excellent eyesight, smell, and bite force. It averaged around 39.4 feet long, 12.3 feet tall at the hips, and weigh 8.8 tons. It's main weapons were it's powerful jaws, massive and bulky body (good for smashing), and strong headbutt. It currently holds the records for most famous dinosaur and most heaviest theropod, comparing to Giganotosaurus carolinii (40.7 feet long and 8.2 tons). It hunted prey like Triceratops, Galimimus, Edmontosaurus, and sometimes Ankylosaurus. It was named in 1905 by Osborn. Synonyms include Manospondylus, Dynamosaurus, Stygivenator, Dinotyrannus, and possibly Nanotyrannus.
