I want to see large walls of texts of you guys giving full and thorough honest thoughts on this topic. So let me begin. Animation is a passion of mine that I knew from when I was a kid, I wanted to do.
(You can skip this paragraph) I watched DragonBall Z, Naruto, Bleach, and American Shows like Justice League, Transformers. These explosions and beams being fired all over the place inspired me to create my own story and original character. I drew him up, and I knew one day I HAD to make my own show. Over the years my characters became stronger, faster, and becoming more sophisticated in design and story. But that's just the beginning of creating something. Being a Native American, and forced into a reserve, I had nothing. Until I saw Pivot. My friend was animating something, he showed me and told me about it. Being a kid, I had no money so Flash wasn't an option. When I learned this was free for everyone to use, I ran home and started animating, and jumped into it like I haven't on any project before
Pivot is only a taste in what I need to learn if I'm going to make my own anime sometime in the future. So last year I got Photoshop CS5 and started practicing, and I must say. I owe everything to pivot in teaching me what accurate smooth lines must look like when moving. Anyway, to this very day I am still practicing, and I LOVE it. I love making realistic Backgrounds, I love drawing something then animating it. I love everything about it. So naturally I began my path to my own company... and...it was then I learned the cold hard truth.

Bare in mind that, THAT article is talking about being an animator in JAPAN... AS IN ANIME! Anime to me is a very, VERY difficult and passionate form of art. I wouldn't say it's a superior art form, but I'd say it takes the cake when it comes to animation. But unfortunately, even anime cannot escape the savage claws, that is greed. Animation isn't cheap. Not at all. But it's still not so good when it comes to pay... Over the course of researching animation, I've learned that people get paid. CRAP... AS IN... BARELY MAKING A LIVING. I've seen many shows fall under the carpet because of cost. I recall seeing an animation pilot that was canceled because the animators wanted to be paid more, or as it was stated "Get decent wages" so obviously, it's not so good in the animation department. To jump back to anime, take a look at this
That is BEYOND amazing, and animation like that is almost daily in Japan. If you've read the article above, animation is different for different studios. The guy worked on Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul, which are HUGE in japan right now. But to only make 1000 A month is... pretty bad. I mean, that's on popular and mainstream anime's and still get's garbage. I made that amount on freaking youtube, but for anime?? damn son.
Which is interesting because, of this

This guy is one of the legends in anime. Like, he's up there with Akira the creator of DBZ. I know it seems like I'm catering to anime only, but animation suffers all over the place. Even YouTube which is supposed to give people who produce content independently hope. Animation is at the BOTTOM OF THE BARREL for pay. Just watch this
I think it's a little scary, honestly. Animation is a great passion of mine and it's suffering. Which is why I want to make a decent animation company with full time jobs and decent earnings like Miyazaki did with his studio.
Before I end this off, I will say. It's very discouraging. It is. It's hard to accept. Animation is hard and people get paid crap for it. I want to make my own anime but it seems like it might not go so well... but I will keep trying. I must. If I want to make an animation company I will. So, here's to the future! and leave your thoughts on the topic below.
