while i would favor protoceratops over velociraptor any day, imo its 50/50 against deinonychus. the raptor pretty much has the weaponry it needs, and i can see it winning if it can outflank protoceratops and latch onto its side. although protoceratops would hard to kill, as it could ram deinonychus over and break one of the raptor's arms with its beak.

The Ceratopsian has the weaponry to deal with the Raptor, I can't see the raptor avoiding the bite or a ram from the Protoceratops. Protoceratops wins.

Protoceratops is more than twice a Deinonychus' weight, if a one-on-one fight Protoceratops wins. Deinonychus had the weaponry to fight a Protoceratops, but Proto was bigger (as I've said before, it weighs more than twice than a Deinonychus) and it would be hard for a single Raptor to take on. Two Raptors would win, although they could get some broken bones. Three raptors would simply overpower the herbivore.

This is certainly a 50/50 fight. Both dinosaurs are pretty evenly matched.

I disagree with the assumption that this is a 50/50 match. dienonychus is actually quite a bit larger than protoceratops and possess multiple adaptations that would allow it to grapple and control its opponent. although its not an easy fight, the best analogy I can come up with modern day is the hunting relationships of leopards and warthogs.

I also disagree with them being evenly matched now, but it's closer at parity.

by a considerable amount, but the advantage still goes to the deinonychus. if we have evidence of a velociraptor holding it's own against a larger protoceratops, I don't see how a dromeosaur that excels the dimensions of velociraptor even at parity would only bring this fight to 50/50 when it can grow a good deal larger then the opponent were putting against even at parity.

Come on, guys! Deinonychus is 4-8 times the volume of Velociraptor. Proto is slow, let's face it. It can just gouge out Proto's eyes. It can run so much faster than Proto can turn.

If anything, the truth is the exact opposite of your statement. Ceratopsians and the like have reduced rotational inertia - along with wide-gauge forelimbs, so they're far from slow turners. And there isn't a real reason why an animal of those proportions would be slow.
