Gigantopithecus blacki vs. Coelodonta

Um........what. The. Hell?



A person I know from another forum (whom I trust) made the above image. As it turns out, Gigantopithecus isn't really that large, and IIRC, the person who made the image made a guesstimate of ~200-300kg, not ~540kg as commonly cited (and even if it was that large, it's still far smaller than its opponent here). Still the largest primate, but if Gigantopithecus was within that ballpark, the rhinoceros would be roughly an order of magnitude heavier.

The aforementioned size advantage alone should make this an utter mismatch in favor of Coelodonta. I actually didn't even need to bring that up in fact, the rhinoceros is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better armed. Even an ape the size of the rhinoceros would get destroyed, let alone one probably approximately an order of magnitude less massive.
