Not entirely sure about a lot of that, but I think sharks gradually out-competed Pliosaurs as they evolved for millions of years, and due to their typical smaller size sharks would probably be more able to adapt to rapid climate change/conditions than the larger Pliosaurs, and thus eventually come out on top in the evolution game leading to giants such as Megalodon (which would again face the same problem as the Pliosaurs). |

Cardabiodon is by no means much more impressive than a regular great white shark, pitting it against Kronosaurus is a mismatch. Tylosaurus was also fairly larger than Cretoxyrhina.

Completely disagree with "Cardabiodon is by no means much more impressive than a regular great white shark". That is entirely speculative. We have no evidence of their behavior or their built, we only have their teeth. And the consensus is that it reached a maximum size of 9 meters which is already far more impressive than a regular great white shark
