Tough call... both are like slightly scaled down versions of their African relatives, so I guess the battle would be somewhat similar. I wanna say it goes to Oxalaia.

There is a remarkable difference in size though, and I wouldn't really believe Acrocanthosaurus atokensis to be too small in order to pull this more often than not.

they are both around 5-6 tons, and acrocanthosaurus has the more lethal bite so it wins this.

Is not only the bite that determines the winner.

What else would determine a fight between two predatory animals that rely on their jaws as their primary weapons? They definitely do not entirely rely on biting, but I'm sure a stronger bite here is a big advantage.

Maybe the claws and the body strenght, I dont think Acrocanthosaurus could fight using its claws but I think they could be use for last resource. Yes, their jaws are they primary weapon, but if one of then can only bite, then the other one has a advantage.

I'm not sure how the claws would be very effective, they're not potentially lethal weapons; more designed for gripping.

Small wounds are lethal in a great amount, however, I agree that Acrocanthosaurus would win most of the times, not easily of course. As you said the jaws are the main weapon for these animals, both have similar body strenght,so the one with the strongest bite has an advantage. Now that I thought again, Oxalaia could not slash Acrocanthosaurus multiple times.

I personally see the claws of Spinosaurids being used in combat, after all there is no reason why the animal cannot use them in self defence just because they would of been most regularly used for hunting. The claws may not necessarily be adapted anatomically for slashing straight through flesh but they could be used to grip and tear at vulnerable parts of the opponents body (eg. the neck/head). However in this case both theropods are at a similar height so the claws will not be very effective. Instead it mainly comes down to the bite/bite force- Acrocanthosaurus likely has the more lethal bite, but Oxalaia would still be a large threat in terms of its biting department.

Acrocanthosaurus was built for hunting larger dinosaurus. Even if the claim that Oxalaia was bigger than Spino is true (made by several people), Acro wins. Its bite gives it an advantage for a smaller Oxalaia, and its speed for a larger one. Its skeleton is a big fragile so that might give a chance of Oxalaia.

Tough call... both are like slightly scaled down versions of their African relatives, so I guess the battle would be somewhat similar. I wanna say it goes to Oxalaia. Wrong. Oxalaia might be a scaled down version of Spino (some CLAIM that it was larger, up to 70 (!) feet, but Oxalaia has a tiny fossil record), but it's pretty misleading to say that Acro is scaled-down Carcharodontosaurus. Acro was used to its prey being heavier (its skeleton was rather lightly built) and almost as fast as itself so Oxalaia doesn't present a big threat in this category. Also, Acro has the better bite, and faster. Acro wins/

themechabaryonyx789: What about effectiveness? A predator will avoid wasting energy with rather uneffective fighting methods. mrirongolem27: We have hardly any material referred to both Carcharodontosaurus saharicus and Oxalaia quilombensis, so saying they're scaled up or down versions of other taxa doesn't make sense; mainly for the spinosaurid, which would be affected largely by allometric scaling.
