Spinosaurid jaws being similar to gharial jaws... That's actually quite fine, depending on our spinosaurid. It was originally used due to gharials having the most similar jaws out of all living examples.

We also don't have any other living examples that are better. Other fresh water crocodiles would be better comparisons to Spinosaurids. The gharial's jaws are far less robust.

The gharial's jaws are far less robust. That comparison is not any better, they are different dorsally and ventrally: Baryonyx walkeri skull: Premaxilla/maxilla in Spinosaurus aegyptiacus (top) and Baryonyx walkeri (bottom) in ventral view, showing distinct secondary palate (dark blue): Gharial skull in ventral view:

That isn’t a gharial’s skull however, its from an an american crocodile: blackpariahdog.deviantart.com/art/Crocodile-skull-ventral-350484609there’s a corresponding dorsal view available here→. Spinosaurus’ snout is most comparable to slender-snouted crocodilians in terms of robusticity, but a gharial isn’t the best analogy: On the whole, Spinosaurus’ snout is much thicker (although the diastema in the front of its jaws is fairly gracile). American crocodiles ( C. acutus) or slender-snouted crocodiles ( M. cataphractus) seem to be the most similar: But it has to be said no crocodile is really that similar to Spinosaurus. They have long jaws and conical teeth, but the similarities pretty much end there. Spinosaurus’ skull and jaws are much deeper and narrower, and its teeth are longer than they would be in a comparable-sized crocodile. this is of interest: digimorph.org/listbysubgroup.phtml?grp=Pseudosuchia&sort=SpeciesName

Although they are probably the most comparable out of all other animals, but this concept was only made based on the fact they share a few similarities.

"This is the first evidence of dinosaur cannibalism." - John Hurt That sounds ridiculous! Actually, that would be legit. Since animal cannibalism happens in modern times, cannibalism with dinosaurs would happen too
