We all love and know Nanotyrannus, he was made famous by the horribly innacurate jurassic fight club. But is it really its own genus? It could be a its own genus but it also could be a Baby T. rex. What do you think it is?

Baby Rex. Almost all of the current evidence has shown that it is a very young juvenile animal, and since T.rex is the perfect animal in the ecosystem to represent a mature animal, that seems to be the only logical explanation of what it was. Moreover, there are no major anatomical differences between Nano and T.rex that would warrant a separation.

They lived at mostly different time periods (Rex 67 to 65.5 and Nano 68.5 to 65.5). Besides, I should know what my own species looks like. No offense.

You know what your own species looks like as a baby. Moreover, I work at a Museum that has the youngest Tyrannosaurus rex specimen in the world on display, as well as a teenager that was older than "Jane". Both look very similar to Nanotyrannus. Also, the two known Nanotyrannus specimens are from about 66 million years old. "Jane" was recently dated down to between 65.9-66.0 Ma, and the Cleveland skull is a little bit older at 66.7 Ma. They are the only two Nanotyrannus specimens currently described, so if anything their time range is between those two markers. Tyrannosaurus specimens are also known to extend back into the 68.5 Ma range, as shown by the specimens found during the Hell Creek Project. Their time ranges also overlap enough for a few million years of base-time separation to be completely irrelevant. Finally, it's painfully obvious that you're getting those numbers from Wikipedia. No offense.

No offense. Considering I was born at the absolute end of the Cretaceous, I had to look up wikipedia for the exact numbers. It's possible I'm a pre-adolescent T. rex, but I'm not giving up hopes just yet. No offense. (This might be a running gag on this thread...)

Unfortnally, the evidences prove that the Nanotyrannus was an young T-rex, It could not survive living close to a giant monster like Tyrannosaurus.
