What are we supposed to do about it then? Look at the root reasons for such things and prevent them. Honestly, I can't understand how you are so conformed with the fact those things happen. "Prevent them." "How do we do that?" "Prevent them." Brilliant answer. The answer most people give won't work. Most rapists know rape is bad but do it anyway. And they clearly aren't scared of prison, or else they wouldn't do it. Some of them are mentally unstable, and then some of them are just heartless bastards that don't seem to be scared of the possible punishment. There is literally no way to do it. I've thought that maybe children should be made aware of sex and rape earlier on, that might get the message across. For some reason people seem to be scared of the concept of sex or something. It's just a natural human function. Maybe if people didn't treat sex like the plague to their children, rape crimes would go down. Now that doesn't mean that they should be fully exposed and encouraged about it. Just tell them what it is, rather than waiting until they are into their teenage years. I don't know if that is exactly the most sound logic, but its the best I've got. You clearly don't have a clue either because you haven't told me anything after I asked you a few times (or at least implied the question). Another thing that makes me think we can't do anything about it is because animals rape. We can obviously fix other things, like the "wage gap" (where it does exist; not in America), sex slavery, etc. But even animals rape, and they do it often too (if you've ever had a dog). It's embedded in our genes. That's absolutely terrifying, and obviously most people can keep it under control, but obviously not everyone can. And we can't force every mentally unstable person in prison or a mental hospital.

"Prevent them." "How do we do that?" "Prevent them." Brilliant answer. So you're saying we can't prevent them? Like, seriously? Sounds more like conformism simply because you can't come up with a way of preventing them, so because you can't think of one there obviously shouldn't be a way to prevent them, so we'll just let it happen and not care about it at all. Brilliant ideology! What you don't realize is, there is one thing called a middle ground. If we can't stop rape completely, we can at least try to reduce the rates. And it is possible, as some countries have higher rates than others. The less rape there is, the safer, the better. No denying that. And accusing me of having no clue of what to do is just some baseless assumption that doesn't prove any part of the point you're trying to bring up here, as if there were no real ways of preventing certain things from happening. I was adding to the thread, but it seems you think that unless a solution comes up immediately, it cannot be discovered and no time should be wasted with it. I really, really hope for less politicians with that way of thinking.

How are we supposed to do that, is what I am asking. Ultimately, my intention was not to say, "We can't fix rape so who cares about rape?" My intention is to say, "This is a problem, we can't really do anything about." I asked an open question too, because there MUST BE SOME WAY, but I don't know it. To which no one gave me an answer. And yet you still have provided no way that this is possible, either. I even gave three long paragraphs beneath those three sentences on my stance and you completely ignored it. The only thing in those paragraphs you responded to was the one thing that might be interpreted somehow maybe possibly in some way as a "personal attack." That is completely dishonest of you to do that. Why are you so aggressive in that post? What the hell? I even basically alluded to maybe trying to get more education. See because I said maybe people should just be made more aware at a younger age. The problem, however, with this is, no politician gives a shit. The only one in America that cares about education is Bernie Sanders. And I don't really follow that much so I have no clue what his stance is on rape. Of course he is against it, but I think he said that we should stop building prisons and build schools for better education. Sounds good to me. And I have no clue about other countries because I'm just a fat ignorant American! At the end of it all, however, there is nothing at all I can do to stop something like this. There is nothing you personally can do either. The only thing we can do is don't rape people, which shouldn't be hard.

My point is that we should seek a solution because there obviously is one, which you admitted yourself. And the government - at least here - is not apparently trying to find this solution. You don't know a way, and you want me to owe you answers. Again, my point isn't the solution, I never said I have one - but as even you said it, the solution exists. Now, all you're doing is repeating the same thing over and over, wanting an answer thinking that I owe it to you, otherwise I am wrong, but when did I ever said I have an answer? I gave you A and you already had the entire alphabet. And I have no idea where you got the personal attack thing from, but now that you're going a bit off the topic at hand, I think your credibility doesn't help too much when it comes to taking personal accounts seriously. And what aggressivity? In which point of my post were you able to hear my voice tone? Did I like, point some knife at you? I could be perfectly calm for all you know, you are just assuming. My post had a similar tone to yours, so perhaps you are being aggressive and thinking I am aggressive as well, simply because I'm speaking in a similar manner? If you find my "aggressiveness" unnecessary, how is yours any useful? Even if I were aggressive, I thought you'd understand, as you do take several things way more seriously than needed. And yes, yes we can try to do our job. Knowing our politicians before we vote for them. I am not saying you are the kind of person who just votes for someone for the sake of voting, but a lot of people do and probably most of them are the ones complaining about the government right now. Moreover, if my posts do sound aggressive, that's not intentional.

I mean I guess it must be a good thing if I'm wrong though, at least in this instance. Oh and I'm sorry if you weren't trying to be aggressive; that is how I perceived it though. I still think that we shouldn't say women aren't equal just because the morons and assholes of the world are raping them. Some people are trying to fix that, but it's hard to make such a huge and common crime just suddenly stop. I will admit on the other hand that in some situations, the wage gap does exist, but it's not common. However, I do think there are things that men are disadvantaged on. I'm not an MRA or a feminist, I'm just the default position, and I hope no one got the wrong impression. This thread is a bit cancerous, isn't it? And I don't typically vote in my own polls, but today I'm going to vote; and not for the side I opted for when I created this thread.

And I don't typically vote in my own polls, but today I'm going to vote; and not for the side I opted for when I created this thread. You did bring up good points though, you seem to be able to make anything seem reasonable. I can see the other side more properly now. For me, it's hard to say if women are equal or not in absolute terms. There are several things to be measured. Thile women still might get paid less, true or false, they certainly have a disadvantage somewhere. We can't overlook the disadvantages of men just because women most likely have the most disadvantages, we should just look towards making everyone equal. Women can hit men, for example, and as far as I am aware, even a woman stronger than a man can hit him without him being able to hit back. Doesn't make too much sense to me. Is this law trying to make up for women having disadvantages like the wage gap and being the common rape victims? Either way, this isn't really making things better. I saw an absurd video yesterday of a woman stepping on a man's testicles (no, he wasn't naked), and humiliating him. Apparently, she did that because he called her "hot" or something, he said something quite abusive, but he apologized before she started beating him. He refused to even touch her, and apologized again and acknowledged he was wrong, however she kept slapping him and even took off her shirt and bra and rubbed her breasts on his face, saying "look at them now!". Sure, she was right to not want him abusing her verbally, but her reaction was pretty over the top and made her worse than the guy himself. In such a situation, in Brazil, where the video was made, he would probably face some legal issues if he pushed her to defend himself, even though she was doing worse. Pretty unfair. This is just one of the reasons why I defend equality, but not just for women - I defend equality for all people, and I do not call myself a feminist for this reason. I find feminism quite biased (perhaps not the proper word, but you get what I mean), as it seeks rights only to one of the groups with disadvantages, and women make up most feminists out there. It's fine to defend your rights, and that's not what I'm arguing against, but let's admit it, it isn't meant to make it better for women, it's just a lot of women thinking only about themselves. Emphasis on selves. Why not just seek equality for everyone else, if you are oh so humanitarian? And this thread isn't very "cancerous" in my eyes, but it's indeed a quite complicated subject. If it's cancerous though, probs breast cancer.

It is sad that I see more people focused on their first world problems over here than worrying about places where extreme abuse actually exists,, or is at least far more severe; specifically in the Middle East (sure seems to be a lot of problems stemming from that area, huh?).

That just shows how self-centered people are. Everyone is self-centered to an extent: when, say, someone needs to move. You like that person and beg for them to stay. Is it for their own good? No. It's for you to feel better, and pretty much everyone is like this. We want to stop murder from happening just so we feel safer. We don't want gore videos because we feel bad about the people there, and we don't want such things to happen so we don't feel bad. And I think it's fine to be like this, being self-centered is even important, but a lot of people out there seeking their rights claim to want rights for women or any other group, but they should really be saying they want better rights for themselves.
