Cryptids are called MYTHical creatures for a reason. Any papers on them are most likely very unreliable.

Cryptids are called MYTHical creatures for a reason. Any papers on them are most likely very unreliable. Mostly because 99% of them DON'T EXIST

The Chupacabra is very debatable, although many refer to it as a sick coyote. Anyway it is pretty obvious Alex.

In the previous page someone mentioned Cristatusaurus. It’s a probable Baryonychid from the Tegama bed/formation (the theropod database seems to consider it part of the Elrhaz Fm., but Taquet & Russell call it a formation in the description paper, and Sereno et al. call it a group containing Elrhaz among others. Either way it seems to be the same strata Suchomimus was found in.) of Niger, and has been synonymized with Suchomimus (Mortimer online), wherein Cristatusaurus has precedence. Based on the size of a referred dorsal vertebra (135mm long) it could reach pretty large sizes, in Suchomimus territory or even bigger. Holtz’ genus list (most recently updated in 2012 btw, it just started in 2007) doesn’t seem terribly rigorous about differentiating average from max sizes. It cites maximum known sizes most of the time (12.4m T. rex, 12m Allosaurus…), but often these fall together with averages/only specimens, and sometimes it seems to run off the track and make up somewhat strange figures (e.g. for Aerosteon, Paralititan). Since it does not give references, rigorous and precise estimates or document its methods I wouldn’t really say it counts as a scientific paper, although it often comes in handy for looking up stuff. Regarding the osteology of Baryonyx, here there’s a version with higher resolution for downloads in various formats if you want one. Also, it has a text layer, which is helpful if you want to quote it: www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/36949178#page/199/mode/1up REFERENCES: Taquet & Russell 1998: lesdinos.free.fr/spi329.pdfHoltz 2012: www.geol.umd.edu/~tholtz/dinoappendix/appendix.htmlCharig & Milner 1997: www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/36949178#page/199/mode/1upSereno et multi al. 1998: worldtracker.org/media/library/Science/Science%20Magazine/science%20magazine%201997-1998/root/data/Science%201997-1998/pdf/1998_v282_n5392/p5392_1298.pdf
