Fred is basically a legend if you ask me. I mean, he might not be making claymations so much anymore, but his deviantart page, at this point he has legendary artwork there. He's pretty good, far better than anything I could ever even dream of doing, but I would say he's still pretty far from legendary status. I mean there are people on this forum with better artwork (as I just explained about spinosaurus1, here).

i feel the need to respond to this because not only are you responding something that is literally years ago, but also on a subject that i do take inspiration from in my artwork. you guys realize that those animations were only tests and made for entertainment right? and in his own words he stated this along with the fact that "it's f%cking clay". don't act as if nobody here has a particular dinosaur that you'll be partial too and nothing is wrong with having a favorite dinosaur. matter of fact, theres only two videos he did that actually had allosaurus winning. the others either only references allosaurus being his favorite theropod, had tyrannosaurus winning and an ankylosaurus pawning everybody while resting with a spinosaurus watching in terror. ( because its for comedic entertainment) i also want to mention that fred is actually work with the saurian team as an artist and has worked with them for a while. hes not the same now as he was literally years ago. that plus i take much inspiration from his work. Did I not explain to you that I do not actually hate the guy anymore? I even said that it was childish of myself to ever hate him for that particular reason, but that I was irritated by it. I was just attempting to explain my admittedly bizarre inside joke that I have with myself. I don't need a collage of random images and crap explaining why he is a god or something. He's just another artist, not the greatest (but definitely far from the worst, he is pretty good). Your artwork is multitudes better, though, in my opinion, but maybe because his is more clean and digital-looking, which I don't particularly like. And what are you talking about? To my knowledge he has never worked with the Saurian team. He makes fanart for Saurian but he doesn't actually work with the team (based on what I know). first, i wasn't talking to you. i was talking to the post above mine. sorry if i didn't make that clear. but let me make clear that this isn't a collage and nobody is worshipping sh%t right now. i just took 5 minutes to post a video and copy one of his drawings. and another artist is another person to discuss different ways and techniques in recreating subjects with your medium. this is exactly what i've been doing with him on occasion. any artist that shows a passion with his/her medium deserves respect, not just fred. im sorry if you can't see it as that but this is what i go by when looking at anybodies pieces of art and consider their strong points and weak points second,i have no grudges of torwards your opinion on the matter. i really admire digital artwork and i do look to his art for references. thanks for the compliment btw. but i must say that my use of lighting needs work, and thats were freds work usually excels at. third, he's in multiple twitch streams with the saurian team. the reason he got notice by them is because of that triceratops fan art. it was RJ who notice his artwork through deviantart. true that he doesn't literally work for them on the game, but he does have close ties with them. hes even in their most recent twitch stream. if you want to check it out, i can post a link if you like.

The post above yours was mine. I apologize I'm just pretty tired right now, so I am a bit irritable. But I guess all of that is neither here nor there at this point. Otherwise I don't really have anything to comment on; this conversation is irrelevant to the thread anyway.

I was gonna say, Monolophosaurus take it easy but then spinosaurus1 explained it all as I would've explained, plus with a better touch. Anyway, yes I am supporter. Not for all species, but I see it as perfectly normal for several taxa to have lips. Simple.

I find them more likely than I used to. I used to think saber-toothed cats were an example of how teeth can stick out and not get damaged by everything that comes into contact with them. More recently however, a fellow by the name of Duane Nash found some data explaining that the big fangs of Smilodon in particular have a dental histology that would need lips to maintain their integrity (i.e. lots of enamel), and I think such is the case for theropods (hence both of these animals would need lips to cover their teeth). Tusked animals (like elephants, walruses, warthogs) can afford to expose their big teeth becase their dental histology doesn't require saliva-retaining lips to prevent degradation. The same goes for crocodilians; apparently, their teeth are essentially miniature tusks (I think this is the real reason why they don't have lips, as opposed to the idea that they spend a lot of time in water). Oddly enough, odontocetes like the sperm whale and the killer whale have tusk-like dental histologies, yet they're teeth are sealed (I guess they retained them because their mammalian ancestors had them). Here it is ('here' is clickable). His addressment to his "haters" aside, he gets his point across.

You know how people sometimes restore theropod dinosaur faces with some sort of oral seal concealing the teeth (example shown below)? © @ EurwentalaWell, these are colloquially called "lips". Of course, they're not like, actual mammalian lips, but they're supposed to be akin to the oral seals of squamates (example shown below). Now, whether or not these were really present in life is a contentious issue. So what do you think, did theropods really have some sort of oral seal similar to what is often depicted? I want ro imagine their lips like dog lips but able to retreat when trying to threaten rivals
