Timurlengia euotica: Distant relative of T. rex shows how dinosaur became giant"A relative of Tyrannosaurus rex has been discovered in Uzbekistan, bridging a 20-year gap in the carnivore's evolutionary tree. The discovery shows T. rex only grew to its giant size toward the end of the dinosaurs' existence. A 20-million-year gap in fossil records has meant palaeontologists have been unable to learn how and when the Tyrannosaurs grew so large. Research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences describes a newly-discovered fossil dating back 90 million years. 'The middle Cretaceous is a mysterious time in evolution because fossils of land-living animals from this time are known from very few places,' said Alexander Averianov, researcher working on the study. 'Uzbekistan is one of these places. The early evolution of many groups like tyrannosaurs took place in the coastal plains of central Asia in the mid-Cretaceous.'" Hainosaurus is now congeneric with Tylosaurus. I guess that means that it's Tylosaurus bernardi now.

guys, we found another lost brother of T-rex! Well, Tarb is in Mongolia and Mongolia is near Uzbekistan, so maybe there might be more tyrannosaurs more west?

Wonder if there actually could be tyrannosaurs in Europe or Africa? We have at least two in Europe. Juratyrant langhami, but it is very primitive, it's closest relative is Stokesosaurus, in fact it used to be a species of it. The other one is the most basal known tyrannosauroid (probably, unless Proceratosauridae is more basal), Aviatyrannis jurassica. Though if you want actual tyrannosaurids, well then you are out of luck, or at least as far as I know. Africa has nothing so far. But I would guarantee it that at least Europe and maybe northern Africa had tyrannosaurids. Australia MAY have had one (I have my suspicions about that unnamed tyrannosaur from Australia, it's not based on much and is obviously found in a place you would not expect tyrannosauroids... though people said that about dromaeosaurs and we got unenlagiines, and then people said that the European abelisaur Tarascosaurus wasn't an abelisaur, and then we found Arcovenator, so we'll see how this ends).

how about Africa? It's connected to both asia and Europe, so maybe tyrannosaurs were worldwide almost?

are there any tyrannosaurs in south america? None, unless you count Megaraptorans, but I personally don't think they are tyrannosaurs.

The cladogram by Benson, Carrano and Brusatte suggets they are, however. (Benson, R.B.J.; Carrano, M.T; Brusatte, S.L. (2010). "A new clade of archaic large-bodied predatory dinosaurs (Theropoda: Allosauroidea) that survived to the latest Mesozoic". Naturwissenschaften 97 (1): 71–78.
